Criteria B
Sketches and drawings:
Reflection: It took time for me to use my description then turn it into a sketch which was followed by another but after i finished i realized that creating it on tinkered would be harder than i thought and it took loads of time and effort for my drawings. For my advantages i think i put it all the details and i've also added color and creativity. My first sketch is different than the second sketch. For my disadvantages i could have included the measurements of the length and width to be more specific or added a few more sketches, if needed.
Criteria B:
Justification:
1. I choose the picture on the right. How did i come up with this idea? Well the first thing that came to my mind was who i was focusing on, which is parents. I thought of a design the would be the most formal and suitable for adults so i decided to go with something casual. Would it cost to much? I think the economical situation is average, the glass and rubber border wouldn't cost that much. Is it a safe piece of design? My idea is definitely safe it has no sharp edges and isn't to heavy to hold. In my opinion i feel that my target audience will definitely be attracted to my resulting design. What software would i use? I would use tikercad since it would be the most helpful. Could the design be made in the time available and with your skills? I don't think it would take much time to create since were not making a glass cup from scratch but the border might take some time.
2. I choose the picture on the right, as well. How did i come up with this idea? At first i looked at the problems that children might face in their life until i found the answer... A pencil case! Many young kids get annoyed at how they want their pencil cases to look like, so i decide to give it a try. What software would i use? Just like the one before it would be best to use Tinkered. Would it cost much? I think the expenses would be over the budget because of the need of fabric and thread but its not more then we can handle. Do i think my target audience will like the idea? I am aiming at young kids, and i have already shown my sketch to my younger sister and in her opinion she commented that she loved it. Why did i choose this color/textile? I chose bright colors of the rainbow, so the kids could appeal to the display of my design. Could the design made in the time available and with your skills?Im not sure if a person could simply create my design, but i know that it would take lots of time and patience. If i were to do it, i have had some experience with threading but it would definitely take time.
3. I choose the picture on the left. How did i come up with this design? At first i tried to think of something eye catching and colorful, so i came up with streamers. They are a big advantage to my design because its bright and long enough to cover the area were the blood is collected. Now why is that a good thing? Well normally the kids would get scared if they see their blood being sucked into a tube. What software would i use? From my ideas before i would stick with the website, Tinkered. Could the design be made in the time available and with your skills? I think this design could be made easily and with little effort because we aren't redesigning the syringe and you can just stick colorful strings which takes no effort. I don't think it would cost much, the materials are very simple to be expensive. Is it a safe design? Most probably my design is safe but i should have sketched out a cover for the needle. Do i think the target audience would like it? Since i'm aiming a little kids i feel my idea would;t affect the children in a negative way. Why did i choose this color/textile? I know children and sometimes they panic majorly and sometimes they don't but its what makes them panic thats the big problem. Thats why i created something friendly and child-like to not scare them.
Criteria B:
Syringe…
Aesthetics
|
For my syringe I want it to be child friendly and very attractive to
the eye. The style will include a lollipop that will cover where the blood is
collected and the layer from the outside will be painted. The colors include,
pink for the outside and the lollipop will be a series of different colors. For my second design its appearance shall
have, streamers coming down from the plunger and its colors should be bright
enough to make you smile.
|
Customer
|
For my target audience I am aiming at females more specifically
girls/ children below the age of eight years because I feel that my creation/
design would have a bigger effect on them.
|
Environmental Considerations
|
For my syringe I want it to be reusable, because it will have a
positive effect on the environment as well as help you with your payment of medical
sources.
|
Function
|
The syringe will be functioned identically to the normal syringes.
The purpose of my object is to sustain children’s fears of injections to stop
all the sulking at the doctors. My creation would be stored with skin
doctors, child cares and nurses.
|
Materials
|
For my materials i would use thin hard plastic for the lollipop and
for the streamers it would be a soft thick layer of strings and both cover
the liquid collection because kids don’t want to faint at the sight of their
own blood.
|
Safety
|
The injection (the point of the syringe) should be well protected by
a cover. It would have no pointed edges so the doctors can hold it
comfortably in their hand and it will be safe to use. I would not add any
types of materials or cotton close to the needle because it can infect it.
|
Size
|
The size shall consist the same amount as the original but sometimes
it matters about how much blood you take in (30ml) or if you want to gather
more
|
Pencil Case:
Aesthetics
|
My pencil case design is going to be funky; it will be shaped like a
long rainbow strip that consists the colors: red, orange, yellow, green and
blue. I want it to be eye-catching and attractive, it will include 3 pockets.
|
Customer
|
For my target audience I am aiming at kids below 10, why? Because
children at that age would want silly and creative pencil cases that make
them smile every time they look at it. I am not aiming at any specific
gender.
|
Environmental Considerations
|
My idea will be used at schools, bought by students, kids or parents.
|
Function
|
For my pencil case it will provide better space for the kids
stationary with the use of pockets, its purpose is to help make the
children’s school life easier because normally their markers or rubbers
wouldn’t fit easily.
|
Materials
|
My creation is going to be
made out of textiles because kids are always complaining about how heavy,
thick or not comfortable to carry around. But not for long. The cloth will be
not to thick or thin do it would be able to carry large objects/ stationary
|
Safety
|
My pencil case is definitely safe for children no edges are pointed
or sharp.
|
Size
|
For the size I’m going to measure the material (cloth/textiles) about
a larger amount of height of a pencil or pen. Then I will expand the width to
open up the space.
|
Glass Cup Border:
Aesthetics
|
I am going to be creating a border for breakable cups, its design
will include: a circular shape. I won’t create it to be dull and boring so
I’m going to color it aqua, violet and rose red because these colors seem
more formal and sophisticated for adults or parents who are in need for one.
|
Customer
|
For my idea I feel that my target audience isn’t very specific, it
could be used all around the globe or with females and males as well as young
adults and parents. Anyone who want safety from broken glass.
|
Environmental Considerations
|
It won’t affect the environment but it would help people economically
because when your objects are damaged you have to go to a store and buy a new
one. My solution would be used in
offices, glass shops or homes.
|
Function
|
It is easily functioned; you wouldn’t need instructions or a manual.
It is simple, you take the border and slip it in from the bottom and into the
cup. My purpose it to influence the lives of trouble places that are in need
of protection from pieces of sharp and harmful glass because from my
experiences at my house, objects dropping has occurred a lot.
|
Materials
|
For my border I want it to be a strong and bendable material that
doesn’t break, so I decided to use rubber. It would be easy to slip on to a
cup, and it will cover it from the bottom of the glass to the tip (for no
cracks).
|
Safety
|
My idea is definitely safe one hundred percent, it is not heavy and
doesn’t consist of any points that can be harmful.
|
Size
|
For my size I am going to measure an accurate length from one of my
cups at home and then create it on tinker cad with a similar centimeter.
